| 6: How do I enable motion detection?
Answer: To enable motion detection,
choose either one of the method. (regarding "quick
setup", see question number 9 for more detail)
Method I: when "quick setup"
is on.(easiest way)
on the front panel of the DVR, click "menu">
"quick setup" > "event".
change "event" to "motion".
click "menu"> "event">
"event check" and "event message".
Turn those to ON. Live view will show the word
“MOTION” whenever the DVR detects a motion.
on live view, the record icon should turn to red
(manual page 19).
Method II: when "quick setup" is off.
on the DVR, press "menu"
> "record"> "record setup"
(please refer manual page 47 to 49)
on "record setup", make sure the program
number is the one that you are using. (for example,
if you are using program 1, put "1"
in record setup. Refer to figure 6.1).
to modify the program (in this example, we are
using program 1), press "menu"> "record"
> "record program". Go to column
"event" (figure 6.2, red circle). Change
"-" to "o" under "M"
to enable motion detection.
to change the area of motion detection, click
"menu"> "event"> "motion
detection".
click "menu"> "event">
"event check" and "event message".
Turn those to ON. It will show the word "MOTION"
whenever the DVR detects a motion.
on live view, the record icon should turn to red.
(manual page 19).
remember to save before exiting the “menu”.
(Don’t press the record button at the front of
the DVR, it will overwrite the motion detection)

Alternatively, you can use DVR
viewer software to modify the settings too (if
the network is setup correctly and is connected
to the DVR). Click on the “setup” icon on the
software interface and go to the following sections
as shown below (figure 6.3 and 6.4).
